Experienced Café Chef Wanted | Columbus Coffee Ashburton
Columbus Coffee Ashburton is looking for an experienced, passionate, and reliable Chef to join our busy café team. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality food. You'll lead kitchen preparation, menu execution, and food quality standards, while helping create the great café experiences our customers know and love. As part of our close-knit team, you'll also bring strong barista skills and be happy to support the coffee machine during busy service periods.
About the Role
- Menu Preparation & Service
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality café meals to Columbus Coffee standards
- Ensure food is consistently fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented
- Maintain efficient service during busy trading periods
Kitchen Operations
- Manage daily kitchen preparation and workflow
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and food costs
- Assist with stock management, ordering, and inventory control
Food Safety & Compliance
- Uphold the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
- Ensure compliance with Food Control Plan (FCP) requirements and health regulations
Team Support & Leadership
- Work collaboratively with the front and back-of-house teams
- Train and support junior kitchen staff and kitchen hands
- Lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture
About You
- Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Chef
- Passion for creating great food and customer experiences
- Calm, organised, and efficient under pressure
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations
- Reliable, hardworking, and a team player
- Confident barista skills and able to support café service when needed
- Positive attitude with a willingness to pitch in wherever required
